DOSANJH LADNER ARORA
Our experience,
is your asset.
Our focus is on relationship breakdowns or legal disputes, also referred to as litigation, which often entails two parties fighting over money and/or property. Relationship breakdowns are never easy and frankly can get quite messy given the highly charged emotional environments these disputes play out in. The disputes we handle include the area of family law; more particularly, between husband and wife or common law spouses, typically involving parenting time and responsibilities, child support, spousal support, asset division, protection orders, amongst other issues.
We also deal with disputes between individuals and/or companies, including family members or business partners, involving breaches of real estate agreements, deficient construction, disputes pertaining to land development, disputes between tenants and landlords
to commercial leases, provision or receipt of defective goods, breach of debt/loan agreements, general breach of contract, misrepresentation, breach of duty, shareholder oppression, and other general commercial matters. The aforementioned areas of practice also include matters pertaining to builders’ liens, certificates of pending litigation and foreclosures.
We have long practised in personal injury, representing injured parties often against large insurance corporations. We have tackled all matter of disputes from car accidents, dog bites, slip and falls, ski injuries, boating negligence sometimes involving major catastrophic life changing injuries – such as traumatic brain injuries. These insurance related matters sometimes involve breaches of insurance, examinations under oath, policy limits issues, and a host of related legal issues. We routinely deal with the Insurance Corporation of British Columbia in relation to lack of benefits, coverage disputes, and related matters.
We genuinely understand that the stresses accompanying relationship breakdowns can be debilitating, whether those breakdowns occur between spouses, family members, friends, or business partners or associates. We are here to provide you with clarity and guidance when circumstances aren’t generous enough to afford you the same.
Family Law
We understand that relationship breakdowns can be anxiety and stress inducing and that is why we take great pride in providing our clients with the highest calibre of legal services with compassionate objectivity. This means we demystify the complexities of the law for our clients, putting them in a position where they understand how the legal process will play out practically in their specific circumstances.
The family law issues we deal with are typically between husband and wife or common law spouses, and/or their children. We represent clients with respect to divorce, separation, guardianship, parenting time and responsibilities, child support, spousal support, asset/property division, protection orders, and mobility applications.
Issues we often find our clients facing and which we have become particularly familiar with are as follows: determination of common law rights and obligations in non-traditional relationships, for example non-cohabitating partners; exclusions to marital property division, such as property owned prior to the relationship or inheritances during the relationship; and imputation of income on individuals not earning to their capacity for the purposes of child and spousal support.
